Bollards have been placed in the hedge after residents raised safety concerns.
Cyclists speeding through the gap in the hedge by the bus stop opposite the shops in Eastbury Road have been causing too many ‘near misses’ with pedestrians.
Ann Grant says: “This common sense solution funded from the County Council highways locality budget, narrows the gap in the hedge and should slow down cyclists and bikers. At the same time it is important that these bollards still allow wheelchair and pushchair access. This cut through is well used.
I hope residents from the Silk Mill and Brookside areas will feel safer walking to and from the shops or the bus stop”.
