The application (Ref 14/01763/FUL) for St Thomas’ Church, Langley Road was approved on Thursday, 12th March by the Council’s Development Control Committee. Plans allow for 9 terraced houses and what some have labelled the “up-turned ice-cream cone” - described by the consultants as reminiscent of a biblical scroll - fronting the new smaller church and community facility at the corner of Langley and Stratford Roads. Plans include 18 parking spaces for a minimum of 45 residents, with 35 designated for the church/community building.
It has been suggested that the houses must sell for £600,000 – 800,000 in order that the sums to develop the rest of the site add up.
