The application by intu to install glass curtains and doors across Queens Road has been withdrawn, following a petition by local residents, shop owners and activists. Following his success in helping to preserve the Ancient Woodland on the Rounton site, Ex-Nascot Councillor Andrew Mortimer dug into the legal implications of Rights-of-Way to discover that while the Secretary of State had issued an order in 1979 prohibiting vehicles from travelling on Queens Road by the Harlequin building (as it was then named), he had not forbidden the passage of horses! Andrew argued that Queens Road still maintained the status of a Bridle Path and, therefore, it would not be possible to block it in any way! The matter seems to have been given the chop, at least for the time being.
