Residents living close to the new Rounton Development have had several months of disturbance during construction. They, and other users of the Nascot Wood Road, have faced delays and safety issues involving trucks that have blocked the roadway. These issues have been somewhat aggravated by the presence of the chicane immediately outside the entrance to the site.
When planning approval was granted the Planning Committee added a condition to the Consent that the chicane would need to be replaced by a speed limiting table in the road, before the first house was occupied.
Now, Charles Church (the site developer) has applied to the Council for permission to delay this alteration to the Nascot Wood Road until after the last house is occupied.
Andrew says “This is clearly a tactic by Charles Church to stall a significant part of the agreement that they signed up to. It would cause further disruption to those living nearby and those who use the Nascot Wood Road. The idea that they fulfil this requirement after the last house is occupied is both against the letter and the spirit of the agreement that Charles Church signed when they won planning permission. At this point we have to ask the question as to whether Charles Church has any intention of fulfilling this part of the agreement at all. We would ask anyone who uses Nascot Wood Road to write in protest to the Council’s Planning Department to ensure that Nascot’s voice is heard loud and clear - No half measures, no stalling tactics, Charles Church got permission to build, now they must fulfil their end of the deal”.
Your Nascot Conservative Team, led by Cllr Linda Topping, Andrew Mortimer and Amrish Patel will be opposing this application vigourously. Please do get in touch if you would like to help with this campaign.
