Highways engineers have advised that parking in Romilly Drive on the grass verge at the corner near the Bellingdon Flats is unsafe. It severely restricts the sight lines of drivers coming in and out of the road. Fencing has therefore been erected on the bend, and the much damaged grass re-seeded.
Cllr Angela Roberts recognises that the pressure on parking in Carpenders Park is getting worse, with far greater car ownership since the estate was built. More development too, including the new flats replacing the garages in Romilly Drive, has made matters much worse. Angela says: “Safety issues such as drivers’ visibility in Romilly Drive should be prioritised, and I would like to see more protection of grass verges locally.”
