At 3:02am on Friday 9th June 2017, Richard Harrington was re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Watford.
He said:
"I am honoured to have been re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Watford and Oxhey, Oxhey Hall, Carpenders Park and Abbots Langley. I was delighted that the vote increased to 26,731 from 24,400 in 2015, up by over 2,300 in just two years. Thank you to everyone who placed their cross next to my name, it means a lot.
This is the third time I've stood for election in Watford and I couldn't have asked for more support. It's been the most fantastic experience and I'm delighted to be able to continue to represent our town. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the other candidates for a well fought campaign.
I'm now looking forward to continuing to work to improve our town, and delivering on my key pledges, including:
- Securing more funding to further increase the number of school places
- Backing apprenticeships and skills training
- Making sure we get investment for Watford General Hospital and our GP services
- Maintaining Watford’s Job Growth
- Improving the facilities at Watford Junction station, with better train services"
