Local MP Richard Harrington officially opened PERK Coffee Shop this week, as the new Carpenders Park shop opened its doors to customers for the first time.
PERK, based at no. 17 the Parade, Delta Gain, is the first local coffee shop in the area, and aims to provide a homely and relaxed place for residents and local families to meet for food and drinks.
During the opening Richard Harrington cut the ribbon, and then owner Kerry Kavanagh provided coffee, tea, and a selection of cakes to guests.
Richard Harrington MP: “It was an honour to open PERK today, and I’m sure Kerry will make a great success of it. I bought along my family who live in Carpenders Park as they’ve been really looking forward to it opening, especially my sister who I think will be here every day! I know a lot of other residents are really supportive of Kerry, and I’m looking forward to coming back for another decent cup of tea sometime soon!”
Kerry added: “I'm a local resident living in the local area for around 15 years, as a mother of 3 children I have always thought South Oxhey and Carpenders Park needed a coffee shop where people could meet friends & family, business colleagues and a place that could be a community hub. Myself and my husband had talked about it for about 5 years and when the shop came up for lease we decided the timing was right and to take the leap! We want PERK to be more than a place to buy a cup of coffee, but to be somewhere people can meet, chat, work and socialise. We want to provide quality produce at a price that’s fair and offer our customer something a little different in an environment which is a home away from home”
Following a complete re-fit of the store throughout January, Perk are now open between 7am and 5pm.
Also on 3rd March The BluFish opened at No. 14. We are sure both shopkeepers are keen to be seen as ‘good neighbours’ in The Parade and we wish them well.
The Post Office at No.6 has had a major refurbishment, and opening seven days a week should be very popular with residents.
