The Croxley Rail Link has now been given the green light and management of the project transferred to Transport for London, so that construction can begin imminently.
Richard says: “Now that this final hurdle has been passed for the Rail Link, which is great news for Watford, I intend to refocus my efforts on saving services from the existing Watford Met station.”
Transport use in Watford is continuing to grow, Watford Junction is being used for an extra 1.5million journeys per year. By 2018, when the Croxley Rail Link is due to be completed, passenger numbers across Watford will have grown further, strengthening the case for the continuation of service at Watford Met Station.
Richard discussed the Croxley Rail Link with London Mayor Boris Johnson last week, and raised the issue of the current Met Station. Richard is calling on TfL and the Department for Transport to re-evaluate the passenger numbers and business case based on projected passenger numbers for 2018.
