Three Rivers District Council have proposed putting parking restrictions in place on The Crescent between the hours of 8am - 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday.
Many local residents are very concerned by this proposal, and feel it will cause them and their neighbours so much unnecessary inconvenience. If you would like to sign a petition set up by residents against the plans, click the link below.
Leigh Fleming says “This is another questionable parking decision by Three Rivers Council. Residents are concerned that a poorly thought through, and potentially costly, plan could be put in place without their views being heard. We need to know why they think this is such a good idea and what knock-on effects it could have.”
Earlier this year, the Lib Dem Council proposed introducing car parking charges to Abbots Road Car Park, a plan which could have had a huge negative impact on local businesses. The council has quietly dropped the plans and seems unable to fully explain why it was initially proposed.
Leigh says “There have simply been far too many mixed messages around parking in the village. The people of Abbots Langley would like, and I would say deserve, a simple and succinct answer on these issues. Any further delay or lack of clarity will only make matters worse. We would all like answers.”
