The Lib Dem Borough Council has moved our market to a cold forgotten space out of the way and far from natural customers.
Our market has a Royal Charter and a long history going back centuries. It used to be at the very heart of the life of our town.
But the Council has abandoned it to slow decline. It languishes, hidden away from the main shops. The Lib Dem council has in effect condemned it by forcing it to struggle on in run-down containers, many of which are now shut up - out of sight, out of mind. It is tragic that a once flourishing market should be treated this way.
We want it brought back to the centre of the shopping district, where the footfall is greater. It should be supported so it becomes once again a great asset to the town, attracting people to the High Street.
